The Oldest 9-Hole Course In New Hampshire

by admin ~ July 28th, 2008

My first official game of golf took place at Sunset Hill located in Sugar Hill, NH. A very laid back and perfect for the beginner course. It is the oldest 9-hole course in New Hampshire, built in 1897 and is a conservation protected landmark listed in the historic register.

Situated on the top of a mountain, it’s hard not too look at the view while you are trying to tee off. Wrap your head around a 360 degree view of the New Hampshire White Mountains to the east and Vermont’s Green Mountain range to the west. If you are planning a vacation here in the golf course mecca of New Hampshire and want a lazy, laid back type of day then you really need to make the trip to Sunset Hill. I can’t wait to go back.

Most importantly and a golf pirate’s need to know information, the all important 19th hole is located across the road at the Sunset Hill House, a magnificent old hotel. While you’re hoisting your beverage of choice, look out at the view of Cannon Mountain, (home to US Ski Team Member, Bode Miller) tally that golf score and plan your winter ski vacation! We have it all here in beautiful New Hampshire.

Welcome To Pirates Of The Green Golf Blog

by admin ~ July 11th, 2008

Welcome!! Who or what is a pirate of the green you ask? I guess any golfer who makes the journey to the green an unforgettable one…by any means! Leave it to my BF “Spanky” who’s crazy behavior on the course inspired me to create POTG. Unconventional golfers need golf clothing with attitude, even if they are sometimes naked on the course!

It’s a HOT afternoon of mid week golf … the cold beer just isn’t cutting it…a swim would be nice! Hey, this pond between the tee box and the fairway looks good. OMG…he’s taking his clothes off! He’s naked in the water and I’m holding his clothes. Someone is coming and I’m not giving them back!

Whew..!! Not coming our way after all. “Throw me the knapsack” he says…”there’s a ton of balls in here!” So now there is a naked golfer in the pond with a knapsack diving for balls! After what seems like an eternity he finally emerges from the pond lugging a full sack of golf balls, so excited by the booty he’s found that he’s totally unconcerned that he’s NAKED and standing on the tee box! I can barely control my laughter!

A good ending to the story would be that I took his clothes and the cart and left him standing there with just his sack full of balls. But alas, I did not. After the laughter subsided and the booty was hoisted on the cart, off we went to finish the game. Just another average day on the course!

That was one of the funniest days of golf we’ve ever had and we hope you will share your stories as well! Share your thoughts, let us know what you think of our products, things you’d like to see, new design styles etc. We’ll be adding new stuff on a regular basis.

We’re located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and surrounded by the most beautiful golf courses. I will try to post regular info on what’s going on at the different golf courses…tournaments, discount specials, etc. and anything else golf related.

Thanks for visiting and come back again soon!
